"There may be a longer wait": Slay the Spire 2's beta branch has not moved since August 14
Mega Crit shipped beta patch v0.111.0 with Indonesian localization, low-HP idle animations and reworked cards across eight character sets, then used the same post to say the next patch would take longer than usual. Twenty days later it is still the newest build on the branch.

Sometimes the first line of a patch note is about scheduling rather than about the patch. “Beta Patch Notes - v0.111.0”, which Mega Crit posted to Steam on August 14, 2026, opens that way. There would be no patch on the 27th, because the team takes a break in the last week of August. Separately from the break, the studio wrote, there may be a longer wait in general for the next patch, having shifted focus to what it called some BIG, much-anticipated pieces of content [1].
As of September 3, 2026 that sentence has held. Twenty days have passed with no beta patch notes newer than v0.111.0 in the game’s Steam announcement feed, which makes what this one changed the current state of the game for a while yet.
A clock that ran every two weeks
Slay the Spire 2 is Mega Crit’s roguelike deckbuilder. You pick up cards one at a time to assemble a deck, climb a tower floor by floor with it, and start again from the bottom when you die. The sequel went on sale in Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026, at $24.99 in the US store [3].
The word beta in the patch title marks a further layer inside that. Steam lets a game carry several parallel builds that players opt into by hand, and Mega Crit puts changes still under test on the beta branch first. The announcement list shows the rhythm plainly: v0.108.0 on July 3, v0.109.0 on July 17, v0.110.0 on July 31, and v0.111.0 on August 14. The fortnightly spacing stops there.
Indonesian, and a different posture at low health
For a last release before a pause, v0.111.0 is not small. Under writing, the notes list the addition of Indonesian localization with English fallback. The fallback is the operative word: untranslated strings still appear in English, so the interface does not turn over entirely [1]. As of September 3, 2026 the Steam store page’s supported-languages field still does not list Indonesian [3].
The art changes are the visible ones. Every playable character now has a low HP idle animation, meaning the way a character stands still changes once its health runs low. Mega Crit’s framing was that there should at least be something fun to look at as you approach death. Five cards also received new portrait art: Hibernate, One For All, Cacophony, Underworld and Midnight [1].
Balance moved mostly against the player. Tezcatara’s Brightest Flame, a card in the Ancients set, now costs 2 max HP instead of 1. Nonupeipe’s Beautiful Bracelet is not a card but a relic, and it now enchants 4 random cards rather than letting you choose them. Seven enemies were buffed. Axebot’s Hammer Uppercut rose from 12(14) to 14(18) and the enemy gains 10 max HP on every respawn; Mechaknight deals an extra 8(12) damage on its Flamethrower turn. The notes never define what the bracketed second number represents, so the figures are reproduced here as written [1].
Among colorless cards, Rend dropped from 2 energy to 1 and lost damage in exchange, from 15(18) to 10(12). Salvo and Splash swapped rarities, leaving Splash rare and Salvo uncommon [1].
Where each character got touched
The class-by-class changes run across eight sets. Ironclad’s Expect a Fight kept its name and nothing else. It was a cost 2(1) card that gave 1 energy for each attack in your hand; it is now a cost 3 defensive card that grants 15(16) block plus another 5(8) block for every point of strength you hold. In the same set, Forgotten Ritual no longer needs a card to be exhausted before it gives energy, and Rampage went from 9 to 10 base damage with scaling damage from 5(9) to 5(10) [1].
Defect’s Hyperbeam changed shape too. A card that dealt 30(38) damage to all enemies and cost 3 focus now deals 24(30) and loses that focus only for the turn. Less damage, in exchange for a penalty that expires. Elsewhere in the set, Thunder rose from 6(8) to 8(11), while Null’s weak application and Synchronize’s focus both fell from 2(3) to 1(2) [1].
The rest is quicker to list. Silent’s Blade of Ink loses the extra damage from its Inky enchantment and keeps only the weak it applies; Mirage no longer drops in cost on upgrade and instead exhausts, with the upgrade removing that exhaust. Regent gets Alignment at 2 stars instead of 3 and Guiding Star at 1 instead of 2, though Guiding Star’s draw slid from this turn to next turn, and the Regalite relic fell from 6 block to 4. Necrobinder’s Shroud rose from 2(3) block to 3(4), and Time’s Up lost its exhaust [1].
Controls and performance got attention as well. Confirming a card selection with the E key works again, and cards with on-end-turn effects resolve faster when several of them are in play. One performance line matters to anyone reading the game outside English: first-display stuttering was reduced for Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai and Russian text [1].
Why August 27 is empty
The August newsletter, posted the same day, puts a length on the gap. The team has been working on new content, it says, but it will be at least a month before any of it reaches the beta branch. It also names the content: an alternate Act 2 and a new character [2].
In practice this asks little of anyone playing now. Nothing has arrived since August 14, v0.111.0 is the current build, and the fortnightly habit of checking the announcement feed can go on hold until mid-September. The one thing worth checking is which build you are actually on. Every nerf and buff above lives on the beta branch, so a player who never opted in is still sitting one step behind all of it.
What Mega Crit has not fixed is the far side of that minimum. How much longer than a month, and which of the alternate Act 2 or the new character arrives first, appear in no announcement so far.
