hololive Dreams: Ver.1.1.0 adds Shadowbound Chase, a 10-player minigame, five weeks after global launch

COVER and QualiArts shipped Ver.1.1.0 on August 28, and the Steam announcement runs four lines. The first names Shadowbound Chase, a minigame that splits ten players seven against three inside a night-time Dream Park. Unlocking it means clearing the new Area Quest the version brings.

Where to play

hololive Dreams is a rhythm game and RPG built by QualiArts together with COVER, the company behind the hololive group of virtual YouTubers. More than 50 hololive members appear in it and it shipped with over 150 songs. It runs on iOS, Android and Steam, is free to play, and sells some items inside the game [4]. Its worldwide launch was July 23, 2026 [2]. Five weeks later, on August 28, an announcement titled Ver.1.1.0 went up on its Steam feed [1].

Four lines, two of them unexplained

The post came from qua_shimone, a QualiArts account, at 21:14 UTC on August 27, which is 06:14 on Friday, August 28 in Japan, where the game is operated [1]. The body reads in full: Shadowbound Chase added, Create Charts improved, Live Together improved, various bugs fixed [1].

What the notice withholds outweighs what it states. Create Charts and Live Together are named and nothing else; the announcement does not say what either feature does or what changed in it. Shadowbound Chase gets the same treatment. Added is the entire description, and the notice never calls it a mode.

Seven with keys, three on patrol

The description came from elsewhere, in a press release issued under the QualiArts name on August 26 [3]. It puts ten players in Shadowbound Chase, split seven and three. The seven are the Prank Gang, the three are the Patrol Squad.

Keys sit scattered around Dream Park at night. The Prank Gang wins by collecting them and unlocking at least five facilities inside the time limit. The Patrol Squad wins by catching every member of the Prank Gang, or by holding the facilities until time runs out [3]. The count is deliberately lopsided, so three players have to cover seven.

Playing it earns Harmony Garden Coins, exchangeable for enhancement items, and bonus missions pay out Red Diamonds and Hololium [3]. One caveat belongs with all of that: those details were verifiable only on the wire service that carried the release. QualiArts’ own news page does not list this update [5], and the Steam notice stops far short of it [1].

The fourth post this game has ever made

As of September 3, 2026, the Steam feed for hololive Dreams holds four announcements in total [2]: the global launch on July 23, Ver.1.0.100 on July 30, Ver.1.0.101 on August 5, and this one.

Ver.1.0.100 introduced a Streamer Mode to help prevent music rights issues and repaired problems in two features it named, Mega Circuit and Pokajan! Ver.1.0.101 is a single sentence saying the issue has been resolved [2]. Those two fixed things; this one puts something in. It is also the first time the version number has left the 1.0.x line since launch, though it is not the first update after launch. July 30 holds that position.

What to do before joining a lobby

Updating the client does not by itself open Shadowbound Chase. The unlock condition named in the press release is clearing the new Area Quest that Ver.1.1.0 adds [3]. The order, then: update to Ver.1.1.0, finish the new Area Quest, and only then look for nine other players.

There is no deadline to plan around, at least none that has been published. The release fixes the delivery date as Friday, August 28, 2026 and mentions login bonuses marking the update, but attaches no end date to either [3].

Two questions stay open: whether the minigame is permanent, and what actually changed in Create Charts and Live Together. A fifth announcement has not appeared on this game’s Steam feed since August 28 [2].
