October 29 for the console, November 5 for the game, April 30, 2027 for the film: the Zelda anniversary calendar

Nintendo broadcast the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8 and posted a round-up of everything in it the same day. The largest date in that post belongs to series producer Eiji Aonuma, who showed the first gameplay of the Ocarina of Time remake and set its launch for November 5. The rest runs long: hardware, amiibo, physical ocarinas, a concert series and a film. Sorted by date, as of September 9, 2026, here is what has been pinned down.

September 9 through the end of the year

Two things start on September 9. The Nintendo Museum in Kyoto introduces a 40th Anniversary ticket design, and the Nintendo Today! app begins handing out a Legend of Zelda digital card each day. The Zelda theme’s calendar animations in the same app change to feature games from across the series.

September 17 brings the Mineru’s Construct amiibo for Tears of the Kingdom. The figure had already been announced; this presentation gave it a date.

October 29 is hardware day. The Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition system arrives alongside anniversary Pro Controllers and a carrying case with a screen protector, all carrying a Triforce design. The Pro Controller comes in two versions, with and without a display stand, and the version with the stand is sold only at Nintendo NEW YORK, Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO and the Nintendo Store.

The game follows on November 5, and the museum adds new photo ops the same day. Its anniversary programme runs for a year, and the Super Family Restaurant, where visitors eat surrounded by Link and other Nintendo characters, opens in fall 2026.

Two products are dated only to this year: a playable ocarina and an electric ocarina from HORI that produces notes or whole songs at the press of a button.

What the presentation showed of the game itself

The new game information clusters around control. Jumping and running arrive as newly added button commands, and the camera moves onto the Right Stick. Locations were fully remodelled so the camera can travel around them, and the day and night cycle now keeps running wherever the player is, towns included.

Threads of Time is a screen that shows story progress and the next objective at any point in the adventure, with a large tapestry that fills in as the journey continues.

The ocarina itself is played through the system microphone. Hum a song Link has learned within microphone range and he performs it in the game, and the physical ocarinas arriving later this year trigger the same thing. On the phone side, ZELDA NOTES adds a daily record, a challenge to find in-game locations from hint images, a touchscreen ocarina and a quiz with over 2,000 questions.

Buyers of the boxed version got one condition. The first print run ships with textured foil cover art, available while supplies last.

The list that carries into 2027

The Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo launch in 2027. Tapping them unlocks in-game masks that evoke a retro graphical style.

The concert series splits across four regions. A Japan tour opens in Tokyo in January 2027, North America starts in Chicago in February, Europe begins in London in April and Australia starts in Melbourne in May. Venues and dates go up at zelda.gameconcerts.com.

Two partner products land in spring 2027. The LEGO The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Link & Epona set is a 1,750-piece display model for adults, and Hasbro’s Legend of Zelda Electronic Master Sword is 27 inches long with more than 15 touch- and motion-activated sounds.

The film closes the list. The live-action The Legend of Zelda opens in theaters worldwide on April 30, 2027, made by Nintendo, Arad Productions Inc. and Sony Pictures Entertainment, and written as an original story built on four decades of the series.

Only two items on this calendar can be reached today: the anniversary ticket design at the Kyoto museum, and the daily Zelda card in the Nintendo Today! app.
