August 24 brought a Stellar Blade Switch 2 trailer, and the only new feature in it is Joy-Con 2 motion control

Shift Up published the first Nintendo Switch 2 trailer and key art on August 24. The only new feature named is Joy-Con 2 motion control support, and the Switch 2 release is a Complete Edition holding the base game plus everything added after launch. No date, no price.

Shift Up put out the first trailer and key art for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade on August 24. It was not a release date announcement. Stellar Blade is an action game from Shift Up that launched on PlayStation 5 in 2024 and later expanded to PC. As of September 3, 2026, the only phrase pointing at the Switch 2 release is the second half of 2026.

The word UNCUT is in the trailer’s title

The trailer named in the notice sits on Shift Up’s official YouTube channel as Stellar Blade - UNCUT Action Trailer - Nintendo Switch 2 [4]. The notice says the video was built around gameplay optimized for the Switch 2 environment, and that the key art was shown for the first time alongside the Switch 2 announcement [1].

The existence of a Switch 2 version was already known in June. It was first revealed during Nintendo Direct 2026, the online showcase Nintendo broadcast worldwide on June 9, 2026, and Shift Up confirmed a release within the year in a press release the following day. Director Kim Hyung-tae said then that the team would prepare the game so players could experience its particular action and immersion intact on the new platform [3]. The video attached to the June announcement and the August 24 video are two different trailers [3][4].

Joy-Con 2 turns movement into input

The notice names exactly one new feature: Joy-Con 2 motion control support. The Joy-Con 2 are the controllers that detach from either side of the Switch 2, and their movement is read directly as input. Shift Up writes that this offers a more intuitive and immersive way to play across a range of situations [1].

Which actions the motion controls attach to, and whether they can be switched off, is not in the notice. There is also a line about optimization work matched to the hardware, but no frame rate or resolution figure appears [1].

Pay once, with nothing to add later

The version shipping on Switch 2 is called Stellar Blade Complete Edition. The notice describes it as a package containing the base game plus all content provided after launch [1]. Anyone starting the game for the first time on Switch 2 will therefore have no separate purchase to make later.

The price, however, appears neither in the August 24 notice nor in the one that followed. The same goes for pre-order details and for whether a boxed version exists [1][2].

The next checkpoint is September 17. In an August 27 notice, Shift Up said this Switch 2 build gets its first public demo anywhere at Tokyo Game Show 2026, in the Sega/Atlus booth at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21, and that same document wrote the release window as the second half of 2026 [2].

So the thing to do now is watch the trailer once and wait for demo coverage in the third week of September. Until then the release date and the price are absent from both notices.
