Shift Up puts Stellar Blade's Switch 2 build in front of the public at Tokyo Game Show before the game ships

A press release dated August 27 sends the Complete Edition's Switch 2 build to the Sega/Atlus booth at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21. Director Kim Hyung-tae takes the stage on September 20, streamed on Sega's Japanese YouTube. The release window is still the second half of 2026.

Where to play

The demo date arrived before the release date. In a press release dated August 27, 2026, Shift Up said the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade will have its first public playable showing anywhere at Tokyo Game Show 2026 [1]. The release timing for Stellar Blade Complete Edition, the version people will be playing there, is given in that same document only as the second half of 2026, and as of September 3, 2026 nothing narrower has been announced.

The third platform, after PlayStation 5 and PC

Stellar Blade is an action game made by Shift Up, built around close-quarters swordplay, boss fights and heavily staged cutscenes. It launched on PlayStation 5 in 2024 [2] and reached PC in 2025 [3]. Shift Up’s own press release states that the PC version passed one million copies sold three days after launch. That figure comes from the company rather than an outside tracker [1].

The existence of a Switch 2 version is not the new part. Shift Up first showed it during Nintendo Direct 2026, the online showcase broadcast on June 9, 2026, and confirmed a release before the end of the year in a press release the following day [4]. On August 24 the company published a trailer and key art, and described the Complete Edition as the base game bundled with every piece of content added since launch, with Joy-Con 2 motion controls supported on Switch 2 [2]. What the August 27 notice adds is the part where somebody outside the studio holds the controller.

The last three days are the ones you can buy a ticket for

Tokyo Game Show is the largest games exhibition in Japan. The 2026 edition runs from Thursday, September 17 to Monday, September 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The official site splits the week: September 17 and 18 are Business Days, and September 19 to 21 are Public Days, open 9:30 to 17:00 on the 19th and 20th and 9:30 to 16:00 on the 21st, a public holiday [5]. The first two days are for registered industry attendees, so the window in which a ticket gets you to the demo stand is the last three.

Shift Up names the location as the Sega/Atlus booth [1]. A Korean game sits in Sega’s booth because Sega handles physical distribution of the game in Japan, according to Game*Spark, which also reports six demo stations in the booth’s Sega Partners corner and gives the booth address as Hall 4 / 04-N01 [3]. Neither the station count nor the booth number appears in Shift Up’s release, so both could shift by the time the doors open.

A stage in Korean, at a time nobody has announced

Kim Hyung-tae, general director of Stellar Blade, makes a special appearance on the Sega/Atlus booth stage on Sunday, September 20. For anyone who cannot get to the venue, Shift Up says the segment will also be streamed on Sega’s official Japanese YouTube channel [1]. Game*Spark reports that the stage runs in Korean with Japanese interpretation and that the start time will be announced later [3]. Kim is also Shift Up’s chief executive [4].

A Shift Up representative said in the release that the company looks forward to meeting many players over the course of the show and hopes to reach as many people as possible on September 20, both at the venue and through the stream [1].

So the September plan splits on whether you can get to Makuhari. If you can, pick one of the three Public Days, and make it the 20th if you want the stage as well. If you cannot, the only thing to track is Sega’s Japanese YouTube channel, and the broadcast time has not been published yet. Two questions Shift Up has left unanswered: where in the second half of 2026 the Complete Edition lands, and what it costs.
