3,300,000 yen for six gold medals and three days of Tokyo Game Show, with orders closing September 8

Tokyo Game Show turns 30 and runs five days for the first time, September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe. Premium and Fast tickets are sold out as of September 3, leaving the 3,000 yen day pass and the 3,300,000 yen anniversary set. Nothing is sold at the door.

Six gold medals laid out in a glass case beneath a 30th anniversary logo hung above a convention hall entrance

A 3,300,000 yen admission ticket is still taking orders. It is the Tokyo Game Show 30th anniversary set: six pure gold medals in a frame, plus one day pass for each of the three public days. Because the set is made to order, the order window is fixed, and it shuts at 23:59 on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 [3]. As of September 3, 2026 that leaves five days, and the show itself opens nine days after that, on September 17 [1].

A fair that began in 1996 and stretches to five days this year

Tokyo Game Show is the largest games exhibition in Japan, organised by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA), co-organised by Nikkei Business Publications and Sony Music Solutions, and supported by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the latter marked tentative on the official page [1].

This is the 30th anniversary year. CESA published the schedule and the theme in a press release on February 10, 2026, and opened exhibitor applications the same day. That document sets the run from Thursday, September 17 to Monday, September 21, a public holiday in Japan, and calls it the longest duration in the show’s history at five days [2]. The English About page carries the same claim, describing the show as expanding to its longest-ever five days in 2026 [1]. The theme is “The Longest Five Days of Nonstop Play”, printed in Japanese as 「史上最長、遊びづくしの5DAYS」 [1][2].

The anniversary microsite dates the first show to 1996 and records 109,649 visitors that year. The same timeline covers 1996 through 2026 in 36 editions, so the count of years and the count of shows do not match [5]. The venue is Makuhari Messe in Chiba, exhibition halls 1 through 11 plus the International Conference Hall, along with TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall [1].

Which counters still have tickets

The first two of the five days are closed to the general public. September 17 and 18 are Business Days, 10:00 to 17:00. The days you can buy your way into are Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th, 9:30 to 17:00, and Monday the 21st, 9:30 to 16:00. Only the final day shuts an hour early [1].

Open the official ticket page on September 3, 2026 and the rows split in two. The Premium Ticket at 30,000 yen and the Fast Ticket at 6,000 yen per day both read SOLD OUT. Both began as a lottery at noon on July 11 and switched to first-come sales at noon on July 20, and the counter for overseas residents shows the same label [3].

Two tickets are still selling. A 1-Day Pass for middle school students and above costs 3,000 yen, and a Special Discount Ticket for holders of a disability certificate or a Mirairo ID costs 1,500 yen per day. Elementary school children and younger enter free [3].

Where you buy depends on where you live. Residents in Japan use counters including Asoview, Stagecrowd, Lawson Ticket and Ticket Pia. Residents outside Japan buy the 1-Day Pass through Trip.com and receive an electronic ticket; that route opened at noon on July 20 [3].

Every ticket is tied to a specific day, and there are no same-day sales at Makuhari Messe. The official page states that purchased tickets cannot be changed or refunded for any reason [3].

Forty-eight grams of gold and three days of entry

Back to the 3,300,000 yen row. The price is 3,300,000 yen including tax, and the box holds three 1-Day Passes covering the three public days plus six pure gold medals mounted in a display frame [4].

The specifications are printed in full. The material is pure gold, K24 and Au999. Each medal is about 24.5mm square and about 0.85mm thick, weighs roughly 8 grams, and the six together come to about 48 grams. The frame is engraved with the buyer’s name and a serial number, and the number cannot be chosen [4].

One design comes from each company: Capcom’s Mega Man: Dual Override, Koei Tecmo Games’ Nobunaga’s Ambition, Konami Digital Entertainment’s Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog, Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, and, as the sixth, the Tokyo Game Show 30th logo [4].

Orders go through Asoview and only within Japan. Once an order is complete, the notice says it cannot be cancelled or altered at the buyer’s request [4].

What the 30th year added to the floor

The microsite gathers the anniversary programming in one place. The 30th Anniversary Title Talk Stage puts producers on stage to trace thirty years of a single title. A panel exhibition covering Tokyo Game Show and thirty years of games occupies the second floor of Hall 5, and autograph boards carrying anniversary messages from developers sit on the second floor of Hall 10. A TGS30th message board rewards visitors who leave a note with a sticker, a photo campaign runs on the #TGS30th hashtag, and the food court serves a 30 BOOST FOOD menu [5].

The zones named in the official site navigation are Family Game Park, the Cosplay area, the Influencer/Creator Lounge and the Indie Game Project [1]. Of those, Family Game Park has separately announced anniversary content and a survey-based draw with thirty winners [5].

Two decisions before the window shuts

If you are going to Makuhari, pick which of September 19, 20 or 21 you want before you buy, because the pass is dated and there is no counter at the venue to change your mind at. If the 3,300,000 yen set is on the table, the cutoff is 23:59 on September 8.

What CESA has not said is how many of those sets have been ordered. The only qualifier in the notice is a line saying sales may end early once the planned quantity is reached [4].
