"The Remake series, at last complete," Square Enix writes, filling in the date and the prices it left blank in June
Final Fantasy VII Revelation ships April 8, 2027 on six platforms. The Japanese release lists seven editions, from 9,900 yen for the standard version to 77,777 yen for the boxed three-game set. The 11,330 yen trilogy edition is a pre-order price, and nothing outside Japan has a price yet.

Two documents published on the same day disagree about the hardware. The post that went up on PlayStation.Blog on September 3, 2026 is headlined “Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches on PS5 April 8, 2027,” and no platform other than PS5 appears anywhere in it [1]. The press release Square Enix issued the same day begins differently. Its subtitle, translated, reads “the Final Fantasy VII Remake Series, at last complete,” and the platform row underneath carries six entries [2]. As of September 3, 2026 the press release is the accurate one. This is not a PS5 exclusive.
One game from 1997, cut into three
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is an action RPG from Square Enix. It descends from the 1997 role-playing game Final Fantasy VII, about a corporation draining the planet’s life force and the people who fight it. Square Enix has been rebuilding that original with modern technology across three releases: Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, and now the third and final one [2]. The official site labels it [EPISODE 3] above the title [3].
The PlayStation.Blog post calls it the “epic finale” to the story that began in Remake and continued in Rebirth [1]. The three run as one continuous narrative, which makes starting with the third a poor entry point for anyone who has played none of them.
The two blanks the June release left
The game itself is not new. A Square Enix press release dated June 6, 2026 already announced it as the finale of the Remake series and as the first simultaneous multiplatform launch in that series. What that document could not fill in was the product table: the release date read “spring 2027, planned” and the price read “undecided” [4]. The September 3 release fills both.
The date is Thursday, April 8, 2027. The platforms are Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, Steam and Epic Games Store. One line moved: where June listed “Microsoft Store on Windows,” September lists “XBOX on PC” [2][4].
Seven editions carry prices, all Japanese, all tax included. Standard edition, boxed or download, 9,900 yen. Remake Series Trilogy Edition, download, 11,330 yen. Premium Edition, download, 14,278 yen. Premium Plus Edition, download, 16,478 yen. Deluxe Edition, boxed, 19,140 yen. Collector’s Edition, boxed, 57,596 yen. Remake Series Complete Edition, boxed, 77,777 yen. The trilogy and complete sets bundle Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth alongside the new game [2]. Neither document gives a price for any market outside Japan, which leaves no basis for converting these figures into a local one.
11,330 yen comes with a condition
A footnote is attached to the trilogy price. The 11,330 yen figure applies to pre-orders, and pre-ordering unlocks the first two games immediately [2]. Set against 9,900 yen for the new game alone, that is 1,430 yen for the two earlier entries, which makes it the sensible line for anyone who has played none of the series and intends to finish Remake and Rebirth before April 2027. It is also not a standing price. Neither document says when pre-orders open or when that window closes.
Two more footnotes matter to anyone buying a physical copy. The Nintendo Switch 2 boxed version is sold as a key card, a cartridge that carries the entitlement rather than the game data. The PlayStation 5 boxed version also requires an internet connection to download additional data before it will run [2]. Either way the box is not the whole product, so storage and bandwidth are worth checking in advance. The CERO rating is still listed as pending [2].
Edition contents are spelled out more fully on PlayStation.Blog. Premium adds a Story Expansion Pass, 24-hour early access, the in-game accessory Reclaimant Choker, and consumable support items to the base game. Premium Plus adds a digital art book, a digital mini soundtrack, the Polydroid Alexander Summon Materia, the in-game armor Nymphwing Bracelet, and the in-game accessory Risk Taker’s Choker on top of that. The pre-order bonus does not vary by edition: it is the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia [1].
The Highwind, and four uniforms
Some of the game detail surfaced today for the first time. Travel is by Highwind, the airship the series has carried for decades, across what the post describes as an open world realized on an unprecedented scale. The chocobo companion has a name, Piko, and works as both a mount and a combat ally that grows alongside the party [1].
Combat introduces a system called FITS, short for Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear. Four specialized uniforms, Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner, change abilities and appearance together as the player switches between them. Exploration allows swapping party members in real time and using a grappling gun to reach rooftops and cross the city. Choosing which party member takes a given quest branches the story. Queen’s Blood, the card game from Rebirth, returns with a new campaign centered on Red XIII [1]. Square Enix notes that every screenshot in its press release is from a build in development [2].
That is the extent of what is settled. The date and the Japanese prices are out; the pre-order window and every price outside Japan are not. As long as 11,330 yen only holds during pre-orders, the next document worth reading is the one that announces when they start.
