Wuthering Waves 3.7 splits its install into three quality tiers, and PC defaults to HD
Version 3.7 arrives on September 30 with pre-download from September 28. It also starts a limited test that splits game files into UHD, HD and SD packages; PC players outside the test move to HD and lose the Ultra Quality preset for now.

Wuthering Waves Version 3.7, "Prism's Illusion, Heart's Illumination," arrives on September 30. Maintenance runs from 4am to 11am (UTC+8), and pre-download opens two days earlier, on September 28 at 10am (UTC+8)[1]. The part worth reading before you update is not the story but the install. Starting with 3.7, a limited test splits the game's files into three quality tiers, and that changes what PC players get by default[2]. Everything below comes from Kuro Games' official notices, checked on September 27, 2026.
Clear 20GB on mobile and 46GB on PC
Pre-download needs free space: 46GB on PC and 20GB on iOS and Android. The packages themselves are 26GB and 13GB; the rest is used temporarily while resources are merged during maintenance and is released afterwards[1]. Without enough space, pre-download will not start and the maintenance update will not finish[1].
Maintenance compensation is 300 Astrite and 2 Crystal Solvent for accounts that created a character and unlocked Mail before maintenance began, claimable until the next version update[1].
Three tiers instead of one package
The new feature is called Tiered Client Resource Downloads. The single resource package is being divided into UHD, HD and SD, and you pick the tier that fits your storage and hardware[2]. PC can use all three and keep up to three installed, switching between them in the launcher. iOS and Android get HD and SD with one installed at a time, and switching on mobile downloads the difference between the two packages. Some phones will only be offered SD[2].
Kuro's FAQ lists estimated 3.7 sizes including cutscenes: 128GB for PC UHD, 97GB for HD and 70GB for SD; 53GB for mobile HD and 43GB for SD[2]. The recommended PC hardware is an RTX 4080-class GPU with 32GB of RAM at 4K for UHD, RTX 3060-class with 32GB at 1440p for HD, and GTX 1060-class with 16GB at 1080p for SD. On iOS, iPhone 14 (A15, 6GB) is the HD line and iPhone 11 (A13, 4GB) the SD line[2].
What changes for PC players
PC players who are not in the limited test will be moved to the HD package after 3.7. The in-game Ultra Quality preset now requires the UHD package, so those players cannot enable Ultra for the time being. Cutscene bitrates are tied to the tier as well, so some videos may look softer than before on HD[2].
Pre-download has an exception too. PC players who received test access during 3.6 and updated the official launcher cannot pre-download 3.7; they choose a tier after the update instead. The Steam version does not support tiering yet. Kuro says an official launcher is coming to Steam, but gave no date[2].
New Resonator and region
Ahead of 3.7, Kuro revealed the profile of a new Resonator, Hsin, introduced as a Sentinel who guides Mengzhou's civilization[3]. The first preview of a new region, the Simulacrum Nexus of Mengzhou, went up on September 26[4].
If you played on PC at Ultra, check your graphics settings after updating. If Ultra is greyed out, the open question is when test access reaches your account; the notice only says it rolls out gradually on PC after the 3.7 update[2].
