Narin, the 66th Warframe, is out, and Banshee is free to claim until October 7
Digital Extremes released Warframe Update 44: Iceblade of Narin on September 23. It adds the new Warframe Narin and a new hub on Earth, and anyone who logs in by 11:59 PM ET on October 7 gets the fully reworked Banshee for free.

Digital Extremes released Update 44: Iceblade of Narin, the 44th mainline update for its free-to-play shooter Warframe, on September 23[1]. The PC, PlayStation and Android patch notes all carry that date, and notes for the first hotfix also went up for Xbox, Nintendo Switch and iOS[1][2]. On Steam's most-played chart for September 28 (UTC), Warframe ranked 19th, up from 28th a week earlier[3]. Everything below is based on the official patch notes as checked on September 30, 2026.
A sword in the ice and a 66th Warframe
The update is built around Yuvan's Peak, a new hub on the far side of Earth. The patch notes describe it as the place where players first mastered their Void powers[1]. Frozen into an ice monument at the summit is Neote, Narin's sword. To get in, you need to have finished both the Angels of the Zariman and Whispers in the Walls quests[1].
Narin herself is the 66th Warframe. She uses ice to heal and shield, and fights with quick rapier strikes[1]. There is one way to get her blueprints: defeat the new Entropic Eximus enemies in Zariman missions for Entropic Kuva, then trade it to Cephalon Melica at Yuvan's Peak. Blueprints for her signature weapons, Nunchasa and Aksondol, come from the same vendor[1].
Entropic Eximus units carry a nearly impenetrable shield bubble and throw destructive orbs. The patch notes name the best counter as slipping inside the bubble and taking them out from within[1]. Citrine Prime Access also opened the same day. Citrine Prime and her weapons can be bought through Prime Access packs or earned by cracking Relics[1].
Banshee just for logging in
Banshee, the sound-themed Warframe, received a full ability rework[1]. Log in between 11:30 AM ET on September 23 and 11:59 PM ET on October 7 to receive Banshee plus one built Forma at no cost[1]. Players who miss the Banshee inbox can still claim the Forma on login until December 31, 2026[1].
The biggest changes land on her second and fourth abilities. Weak spots marked by Sonar now count as Weak Points, which gives them synergy with a range of Mods and Arcanes. Casting Sonar or Silence no longer roots Banshee in place. Sound Quake is no longer channelled; it now creates an area of effect that lasts 25 seconds[1].
What is still coming before October 15
Glacial Defiance, a new six-player mode, did not ship with the update. Digital Extremes says it will arrive on or before October 15, and Riven Splicing will open with it because the Riven Splicer needed for it is a Glacial Defiance reward[1]. The Epoch Operation: Taubound event also begins on October 15[1].
On PC the download is about 7.83 GB for DirectX 11 and about 8 GB for DirectX 12. The patch notes explain that re-optimized sound files make this download larger than usual but shrink the overall install once patched[1]. If you have been away from the game, logging in once before October 7 ends is the cheapest way back in: Banshee is waiting in the inbox.
