If you want the Dr. Hill pre-order bonus, September 10 is the date that matters. Until Dawn 2 arrives January 28, 2027 on PS5

Horror games about ghost hunters are not rare. The eight in Until Dawn 2 have never seen a ghost. They have been staging hauntings for their channel, and the game is the night that gap closes on them.

A post published on PlayStation.Blog on September 3, 2026 sets the release date at January 28, 2027. The platform is PS5 and nothing else, and the author is Stu Tilley, creative director at Firesprite Games [1]. As of September 3, 2026 the post carries no price.

Eight ghost hunters who have never seen a ghost

Until Dawn 2 is a horror adventure from Firesprite Games, a Sony studio. It is the kind of game where you do not fight so much as choose on the characters’ behalf, and those choices decide who is still alive by morning. It follows Until Dawn, released in 2015 [2].

The post introduces the cast as fake ghost hunting Youtubers, meaning a channel that manufactures the paranormal footage it publishes. The channel is Dead True, and its members are Owen, Mina, Nate, Reagan, Izzy, Luke, Josie and Cameron, plus a chicken that travels with them. Owen, the channel’s cocky star, is played by Dacre Montgomery. Mina, its conflicted co-host, is played by Camila Senna. Nate is Spence Moore II, and Izzy, the team’s new intern, is Sarah Catherine Hook. Yoona, a survivor of a supernatural attack, is played by Gia Kim [1].

The setting is Akishima Island. The post describes it as a remote South Pacific island, abandoned since a luxury resort’s mysterious shutdown in the 1970s, and adds that the island hides secrets centuries old and hungry for vengeance [1].

Four things that only became known today

The game was already public. A PlayStation.Blog post dated June 2, 2026 said it was coming to PS5 in 2027 and introduced Dead True and an unnamed deserted island. It gave no island name, no partner studio, no editions and no pre-order date [2]. Today’s post fills in all four.

The story work has a second studio attached. Firesprite says it partnered with AdHoc Studio, the team behind Dispatch. The post does not explain what Dispatch is, describing it only as acclaimed [1].

The official PlayStation product page had not caught up when checked the same day. It still gives the release window as 2027, lists no editions and no pre-order information, and the Japanese version of the page still carries the title as provisional. Development is credited to Firesprite Ltd., publishing to Sony Interactive Entertainment, and the genre is listed as adventure [3].

Whether to sacrifice the chicken

The post offers one choice as an example. The network makes a demand of Mina, the co-host: it wants a ritual sacrifice, live, on camera. The player decides whether to give in and sacrifice the chicken to please the bosses, or set it free and risk her own blood for the ritual instead [1].

On how choices work, the post commits to a single line: “Every choice, every interaction can ripple with dramatic consequences.” The range of endings sits in the same paragraph. Either the team leaves Akishima Island safely, or the horrors claim a few of them, or all of them [1].

Two editions, one pre-order date

Pre-orders open on September 10, 2026. Ordering either the Standard or the Digital Deluxe edition from that date unlocks a set of Dr. Hill themed items: the Until Dawn classic outfit, an Akishima Island holiday outfit, and Dr. Hill collector’s bobbleheads to find in the game [1].

Dr. Hill is a character from the first game, and Peter Stormare plays him again. The post says the studio is celebrating his comeback [1].

Digital Deluxe adds two things on top. The Y2K Neon Vibes Pack dresses all eight Dead True members, and Diorama of Death is a set of vignettes exploring each character’s fatal outcomes from a different angle [1].

Neither edition has a price. No figure appears in the post or on the official product page [1][3], which leaves nothing to budget against until pre-orders go live.

That makes September 10, not January 28, the date to put in a calendar. It is when the choice between Standard and Digital Deluxe becomes a real one, and when the two prices appear for the first time. It is also worth noting what the post never mentions: any platform other than PS5.
