Mixed on Steam and awaiting a patch: Silent Hill: Townfall's first three days
SILENT HILL: Townfall launched on PS5 and PC on September 24. By September 27 its Steam reviews were Mixed, with 1,901 of 2,923 positive, and Konami had announced a performance patch for the Steam version with no date yet.

SILENT HILL: Townfall, the new entry in the Silent Hill series, is out on PS5 and PC. Konami's announced release date was September 24, and the Korean Steam page lists September 23[1][2]. It is developed by Screen Burn and published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive[2]. On launch day, a Steam notice said a patch for performance issues on the Steam version was already being prepared[3]. Everything below was checked against the Steam store and official notices on September 27, 2026.
Back to the island town of St. Amelia
Simon Ordell returns to his island hometown to "put things right." The Steam description promises tense evasion, explosive confrontations and mind-bending puzzles that slowly surface the truth of St. Amelia[2]. It is single-player, and the Steam feature list includes difficulty options and camera motion settings[2].
Voice acting is available in English and Japanese, with interface and subtitles in more languages including Korean[2]. On the Korean Steam store it costs 69,000 KRW and is rated 19+[2].
Mixed on Steam after three days
As of September 27, the game had 2,923 Steam reviews, 1,901 of them positive, which Valve labels Mixed[4]. The split varies by language: 1,193 of 1,743 English reviews are positive, while only 24 of 65 Korean reviews are, putting the Korean score at Mostly Negative[4]. The aggregate does not say why.
The problem the developers acknowledged first is performance. A September 24 notice said a patch addressing performance issues on the Steam version is in the works and that the release date will be announced once confirmed[3]. The same day, Konami said it had fixed an issue that stopped some pre-purchase and Deluxe Edition owners from unlocking DLC content; players who had already started need to quit, stay online and restart Steam[5].
Check your hardware before buying
The minimum specification is not light: Windows 11 64-bit, Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i7-8700K, 16GB of RAM, a GeForce RTX 2060 Super or Radeon RX 6600, and 75GB of storage. The store notes that this targets 1080p on Low settings at 30fps[2].
Steam refunds purchases made within 14 days with less than two hours played[6]. If your PC sits right at the minimum, waiting for the performance patch date is the safer move; with more headroom, buying and testing within two hours is reasonable. The open question is when that patch lands and what it fixes.
