Rainbow Six Mobile

11 months after its App Store release, Rainbow Six Mobile will shut down on January 15, 2027

Ubisoft's team announced Rainbow Six Mobile's shutdown on October 9 KST. The game is playable until January 15, 2027, with the next season due next week as planned. The notice gives no in-game purchase cutoff or word on refunds; more information is due in a few weeks.

Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Mobile development team has decided to end the game's service. The announcement went live at 2 a.m. KST on October 9, and the game will remain playable until January 15, 2027[1]. The App Store lists its release date as February 23, 2026. That puts the shutdown less than a year after its official release[2]. This article is current as of October 10, 2026.

Bringing Siege's attack and defense to phones

Rainbow Six Mobile is a free-to-play adaptation of the PC and console tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege. Two teams of five take turns attacking and defending each round[2]. Players choose one of Siege's operators, each with their own special abilities and equipment. Drones and cameras help locate opponents, while walls, doors and floor hatches can be broken to open new routes. Its maps also come from Siege, including Bank, Clubhouse, Border, Oregon and Villa. Both touch controls and controllers are supported[2].

The game's history predates its App Store release. The team said it began a soft launch in selected regions in 2023 and has since run 15 seasons[1]. Seasons are periods that bring changes to content and rewards.

A new season before the shutdown

According to the announcement, the next season will arrive next week as planned[1]. That leaves just over three months of service before January 15, 2027. The team said only that it would move to other long-term strategic projects, without identifying them[1].

The announcement leaves out the most important details. It does not say when in-game purchases will end or whether there will be refunds for currency and items already purchased[1]. January 15 is the last day the game will be playable; it has not been announced as a purchase cutoff or refund deadline. The team said it would share more information within a few weeks so players know what to expect and can prepare for the shutdown[1].

What to do while waiting for more information

If you are considering an in-game purchase, the safer option is to wait for further guidance. The current announcement does not explain what will happen to newly purchased currency when the service ends. Those who plan to keep playing can enjoy next week's new season and mark January 15, 2027, on their calendars. Further announcements will appear on Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Mobile news page[1].
