Five and a half years after its Switch debut, Monster Hunter Rise passes 20 million sales
The official Monster Hunter Rise X account announced 20 million lifetime sales on October 6. It ranked third across Capcom's games at 19.3 million on June 30. The base game is 90% off at KRW 4,980 on Korean Steam until October 9 at 2 a.m. KST.

Monster Hunter Rise has sold more than 20 million copies. The game's official Japanese X account announced the milestone on October 6 at 1 p.m. Japan time[1]. The same post pointed anyone who had yet to play toward discounts currently running across digital stores[1]. Rise is Capcom's action game about hunting large monsters. Its signature feature is the Wirebug, a tool that lets players take to the air during combat[4]. The milestone comes five and a half years after its Nintendo Switch debut in March 2021[2]. This report covers information available as of October 7, 2026.
Two games ahead of Rise on Capcom's sales chart
Capcom's sales rankings for investors put the 20 million milestone in context. In the table with figures as of June 30, Rise ranked third across the company's games with 19.3 million copies sold[2]. Only Monster Hunter: World (22.4 million) and Resident Evil 2 (19.7 million) were ahead of it. Immediately below, in fourth place, was Resident Evil 7 biohazard (18.4 million)[2]. The platform column also lists download versions, marked 'DL', so the totals combine physical and digital sales[2].
Going from 19.3 million at the end of June to 20 million in early October means roughly 700,000 additional sales in a little over three months. That does not establish Rise as Capcom's current number two. Other games' totals will also have changed since June 30, so its current position can only be confirmed when the next table appears.
The same table counts other entries in the series separately. The expansion Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak (June 2022) ranked tenth with 11.9 million sales, while the follow-up Monster Hunter Wilds (February 2025) placed eleventh with 11.8 million[2]. Lifetime sales for the series as a whole exceeded 131 million copies as of June 30[3].
The base game drops to KRW 4,980 on Korean Steam
The discounts mentioned by the official account extend to the Korean Steam store. Released on January 12, 2022, the Steam version of the base game is 90% off, down from KRW 49,800 to KRW 4,980[4]. Its player ranking also improved that week. In Steam's most-played rankings for October 6 (UTC), Rise climbed from 175th the previous week to 100th, with a daily peak of 24,434 concurrent players[6]. Wilds ranked 56th on the same day, down from 49th the previous week, and reached a daily peak of 43,505 concurrent players[6].
First-time Rise buyers also have to decide whether to pick up Sunbreak. The substantial expansion adds a new story, monsters and areas. It requires a separate purchase and currently costs KRW 7,470, an 85% discount on its regular KRW 49,800 price[5]. Buying both comes to KRW 12,450. The store page says Sunbreak's story only becomes available after completing a ★7 Hub quest in the base game[5]. The sale ends on October 9 at 2 a.m. KST, which is October 8 at 10 a.m. US Pacific Time[4].
