After 300,000 pre-registrations, Mabinogi Mobile sits at No. 6 on Japan's free App Store chart four days after launch

Nexon's Japanese subsidiary launched Mabinogi Mobile in Japan on October 7[1]. Four days later, on October 11, the game ranks No. 6 among free games and No. 15 by revenue on Japan's App Store[3]. Pre-registrations exceeded 300,000 shortly before launch[1]. A series spanning more than 20 years moves to mobile

Mabinogi Mobile is an online RPG developed by devCAT and published by Nexon. Nexon describes it as the latest entry in the Mabinogi series, which has been running for more than 20 years. The company says the game builds a new story within the original's world[1]. Combat is only part of the experience. Players can change their characters' appearance, cook and decorate their homes through the housing system. The interface and controls have been redesigned for mobile, and the game supports cross-play with PC[1]. The Japanese App Store listing also states that it runs on Macs with an M1 chip or later[4].

The Japanese version is a separate app from the Korean version. Its seller on Japan's App Store is Nexon's Japanese subsidiary, NEXON Co., Ltd., and its supported languages are Japanese and English[4]. The Mabinogi Mobile app available in South Korea is a separate listing with Nexon Korea registered as its seller[5].

From a September Tokyo Game Show announcement to 300,000 pre-registrations

The release date was announced on September 17, the opening day of Tokyo Game Show 2026. Pre-registrations had already passed the target of 200,000, and Nexon said it would add a reward for reaching 250,000[2]. By the launch-day press release, the total had grown to 300,000[1].

All players receive two sets of gifts to mark the launch. The launch gifts consist of a layered outfit set box containing an apron, gloves and shoes, a 染色アンプル (dye ampoule) selection box, and 10 ファッションチケット (fashion tickets). The rewards for reaching 300,000 pre-registrations are 40 ファッションチケット (fashion tickets), 3 染色アンプル (dye ampoule) selection boxes, and a 剣士学校制服セット (swordsman school uniform set). Both sets must be claimed by December 31, 2026, at 23:59 Japan time[1]. A 7-day login event, 7-stage progression missions and a friend invitation event also launched. The friend invitation event runs until December 2 at 5:59 a.m.[1].

What the Japanese App Store listing sells

Among the 10 main paid items listed on the Japanese App Store page, the in-game currency Mキャッシュ (M Cash) ranges from 100 yen for 100 units to 9,900 yen for 9,900 units. The 冒険者パスプレミアムパック (Adventurer Pass Premium Pack) costs 1,980 yen, while the ファンタジーライフトータルメンバーシップ (Fantasy Life Total Membership) costs 1,290 yen. The listing states that the app contains loot boxes, which offer randomized rewards[4]. It does not show the drop rates for these items.

How Japan compares with South Korea and Taiwan

On the same day, the Korean version of Mabinogi Mobile ranked No. 36 by game revenue on South Korea's App Store. In Taiwan, the Traditional Chinese version, 瑪奇 Mobile, ranked No. 32 by game revenue on the App Store[3]. Four days after launch, the Japanese version places higher on the free chart than on the revenue chart. Revenue rankings over the coming weeks will show how long users who downloaded the game in Japan stay and whether they go on to spend.

For players of the Korean version, the Japanese launch changes nothing. Anyone looking to try the Japanese version should first check whether they can download it. The Japanese app does not appear in App Store lookups for South Korea, the United States or Taiwan[6]. Its launch gifts and pre-registration rewards cannot be claimed after December 31[1].
