PS5 players get Forza Horizon 6 on January 26, 2027, with the first expansion five days earlier

Forza Horizon 6, the open-world racer set in Japan, is coming to PS5. On October 8, Playground Games said the PS5 Standard and Deluxe Editions will release on January 26, 2027, and opened pre-orders on the PlayStation Store the same day[1]. Premium Edition owners get early access five days sooner, on January 21[1]. This article is current as of October 12, 2026.

Panic Button handles the PS5 version

The PS5 version is being developed by Panic Button, the studio behind last year's PS5 release of Forza Horizon 5, in close collaboration with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios[1]. The pre-order trailer was captured on a base PS5 in the 4K 30fps Quality mode, and a 60fps Performance mode will also be available[1]. A disc version will be sold at supporting retailers[1].

Pre-ordering any edition adds a pre-tuned Ferrari J50 to the garage once players start the game and finish the prologue[1].

Shared progress with Xbox and Steam

The PS5 version supports cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions[1]. Community creations cross platforms too. Playground Games says PS5 players can use EventLab races, Prefabs, Garages, liveries and tuning setups from day one[1].

January 21 brings the expansion to every platform

The first Premium Expansion arrives on all platforms on January 21, 2027, five days before the PS5 version's full launch[1]. It is included at no extra cost in the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade and the Expansions Bundle, and it can also be bought separately[1]. A free content update for all players will launch alongside the PS5 version and the expansion, with details to come closer to release[1]. As of October 12, neither the expansion's name nor its setting has been announced.

If you already play on PC or Xbox, January 21 is the date to note. If you plan to start on PS5, check which edition you are buying before you pre-order, since it decides whether your first session is on January 21 or January 26.
