For 4,000 yen more than the console alone, a Japan-only Switch 2 bundle lets you pick one of three games on November 12
Nintendo announced on October 6 that a Japan-only Nintendo Switch 2 Choose-a-Game Set will go on sale in Japan on November 12 for 63,980 yen. It includes a code for one of three games, among them Mario Kart World, and links only to Nintendo Accounts set to Japan.

On October 6, Nintendo announced a set in Japan that pairs a Nintendo Switch 2 with a download code for one game of the buyer's choice. Its Japanese name translates to Nintendo Switch 2 (Japanese-Language, Japan Only) Choose-a-Game Set, and it goes on sale November 12 at a suggested retail price of 63,980 yen including tax[1]. This article reflects information as of October 6, 2026.
A code for one of three games
Entering the download number from the box in the Nintendo eShop unlocks one of three games at no extra cost. The choices are two Switch 2 games, Mario Kart World and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and one Switch game, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream[1]. The code can be used until March 31, 2027, and downloading requires a Nintendo Account and an internet connection[1].
Everything else matches the standalone console. The box contains the Japanese-language, Japan-only console, a pair of Joy-Con 2 controllers, Joy-Con 2 straps, the dock, a Joy-Con 2 grip, an AC adapter with a USB-C charging cable and an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, plus a leaflet printed with the download number[1].
A 4,000-yen gap over the 59,980-yen console
According to the product lineup on Nintendo's Japanese website, the same Japanese-language, Japan-only console on its own has a suggested price of 59,980 yen[2]. The new set charges 4,000 yen more and adds the choice of a game. That console originally cost 49,980 yen. Nintendo announced on May 8 that it would raise the Japanese price to 59,980 yen, effective May 25[3]. The same announcement raised the US suggested price from $449.99 to $499.99, which took effect on September 1[3].
Game bundles for the Japanese-language model have kept coming this year. A Splatoon Raiders set went on sale on July 23 for 64,980 yen, and a Monster Hunter Wilds set follows on December 4 for 61,980 yen[2]. The Mario Kart World set and the Pokémon Legends: Z-A set, both released in 2025, are no longer being produced[2].
A console that only links to Japanese accounts
Anyone thinking of buying this set from outside Japan should check one condition first. The Japanese-language, Japan-only console is built for use in Japan. Its system language is Japanese only, and it can link only to Nintendo Accounts whose country or region is set to Japan[2]. Nintendo states this on the Japanese lineup page in Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese and Korean[2].
For other languages, Nintendo sells a separate multi-language console. It costs 69,980 yen and in Japan is sold only through the My Nintendo Store[2]. Its price did not change in the May increase[3]. The Choose-a-Game Set announced this week comes only with the Japanese-language, Japan-only console[1]. Anyone whose game library sits on an account from another country cannot link that account to the console in this set[2].
