XLGAMES released the ArcheAge Chronicles PC demo for Steam Next Fest on October 20: four classes, a PvP debut and a new dungeon. The open-world action MMORPG demo is available until October 27 at 2 a.m. Korean time with just a Steam account and no test key.

XLGAMES released the PC demo of ArcheAge Chronicles on October 20 to coincide with Steam Next Fest. The demo is available to download until 2 a.m. Korean time on October 27. A Steam account is all you need, with no separate application or test key required[1]. This article is as of October 20, 2026.
Auroria, 50 years after the original
ArcheAge Chronicles is an open-world action MMORPG developed in Unreal Engine 5 and operated directly by XLGAMES. It takes place in Auroria, 50 years after the original ArcheAge[1]. The Steam store page describes the player as an explorer affiliated with a company, setting foot in Auroria for the first time. The story begins when the protagonist, who has been investigating ancient ruins, joins an investigation into an airship crash as an observer[4].
Combat uses a non-targeting system, so players do not select a target in advance. You must judge when to dodge or parry in response to enemy attacks[1][4]. The game also plans to include activities carried over from the original, such as hunting and gathering, housing and farming, crafting and trade[4].
What's in the demo
The demo takes place in an early area of Auroria, and you can try all four classes. The content shown in September's North American network test is joined by the first showing of PvP and a new dungeon[1]. A video released alongside the demo shows parts of the opening story that are not included in the demo itself[1].
According to XLGAMES, the demo topped both the 'Trending Upcoming' and 'Top Demos' charts on the event page in the early hours of October 20, the first day of Next Fest[2]. The event ends at 10 a.m. U.S. Pacific time on October 26. Steam will publish a recap page featuring the most-played demos that same day[3].
Check the requirements before downloading
The Steam store page lists minimum requirements of a GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or Radeon RX 6600 (8GB VRAM), 16GB of RAM and 100GB of available SSD space. With this hardware, the stated target is 30fps at 1080p on low settings with the upscaler set to Quality mode[4]. Supported languages are English, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, with audio available only in Korean[4].
Early access is targeted for this year
Executive producer Ham Yong-jin said the team would review feedback received during the demo period and incorporate it into development. The aim is to launch in early access before the end of the year, with plans to reveal activities such as housing and trade, along with content in Auroria, at launch[1]. The release date on the Steam store page is still listed as 'To be announced'[4]. The official website links to product pages on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store and Xbox Store[5].
It remains unclear whether the team can incorporate demo feedback while meeting its target of an early access launch before the end of the year. To try it yourself before that becomes clear, you need to download it before 2 a.m. on October 27.
