No. 1 in Japan, Monster Hunter Outlanders offers a 120-pull first featured guarantee in Korea

Developed by TiMi under Capcom's license, this free mobile hunter supports 4-player co-op. Korea's Garena version lists a 0.6% SSR rate and a 90-pull SSR guarantee, but the notice omits the recruitment ticket price.

Bottom line
Worth starting for free if you want Monster Hunter on your phone, but check the recruitment ticket price and multiply it by 90 before spending on adventurers.

Featured SSR adventurers from Special Recruitment will not join Standard Recruitment later

A hunting series with cumulative sales of 131 million copies has arrived on phones, with that sales figure recorded as of June 30, 2026[1]. Monster Hunter Outlanders is developed by TiMi Studio Group, a Tencent Games subsidiary, under Capcom's licensing and supervision. Its Korean servers opened at 7 a.m. on October 29[1][2][3]. Four days later, on November 2, it ranked No. 1 for both game revenue and free games on Japan's App Store, No. 4 for revenue and No. 1 for free games in Taiwan, and No. 24 for revenue and No. 2 for free games in Korea[8]. This article reflects information as of November 2, 2026.

Between hunts, take to the air

The setting is the island of Isolesia[2]. According to the official description, the game makes room for more than hunting. Crafting extends from gathering materials to constructing buildings, while gliding and wind devices provide ways to travel between areas[3][5]. The monster roster includes Ruger Aidal, an Elder Dragon exclusive to this game, alongside Radiant Species, monsters altered by their environment[6].

There are 8 weapon types: Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Lance, Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun and Bow. More weapon types are planned[6]. Players choose an adventurer to take into combat, and the official website presents those adventurers alongside their associated weapons. Haze, a support adventurer who uses Dual Blades, is one example[5]. The 3 companions are Palico, Rutaco and Trillan[7].

Players can explore alone or team up with others in a hunting party of up to 4[7]. There are 2 control modes, and controller support for the main hunting actions is available from launch[3][6].

Agree on a server before starting with friends

The Korean Garena release has 4 servers: South Korea, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East and Africa. Players are connected automatically according to their region. Each server keeps its own data, characters cannot be transferred, and players on different servers cannot form parties or add one another as friends[2]. Japan and the US have a separate app published by Level Infinite (Proxima Beta), and this article has not verified that app's payment terms or recruitment rules[9].

For a group planning to play together, the server decision comes before character creation. Being able to install the game is not enough to establish that friends can hunt together. They need to create their characters on the same server, because the published restrictions rule out both cross-server parties and a later character transfer.

Guest accounts are another point to settle at the first login. Logging out, deleting the game or changing devices erases a Guest account's progress, and that progress cannot be restored[2]. Link a Google or Apple account before relying on that character for continued play. The daily reset is at 5 a.m. server time, and the game supports 9 languages, including Korean[2].

The hardware requirements deserve a look before installation. Minimum Android specifications are Android 9, 4GB of RAM, 19GB of storage and a Galaxy S8 or later; on iOS, they are iOS 15, 3GB of RAM, 18GB of storage and an iPhone 8 Plus or later. The recommended Android specifications rise to Android 12, 8GB of RAM, 22GB of storage and a Galaxy S23 or later. For iOS, the recommendation is iOS 17, 6GB of RAM, 20GB of storage and an iPhone 13 Pro or later[2]. Those storage allowances are much larger than the 3.5GB shown on the Korean App Store listing[7]. The official FAQ recommends lowering frame-rate and graphics settings if heat or battery consumption becomes an issue[2].

The 90-pull guarantee and the 120-pull promise cover different outcomes

The recruitment probabilities and guarantees below come from Garena's Korean version. Adventurer recruitment is the main spending consideration. Limited-time Special Recruitment uses special recruitment tickets and starts with a 0.6% chance of an SSR adventurer. If none appears in the first 73 pulls, the chance rises by 6 percentage points per pull from the 74th: 6.6% on pull 74 and 12.6% on pull 75. An SSR is guaranteed on pull 90. Including the guarantee system, the overall SSR rate is 1.6063%[4]. Beginner Recruitment uses regular recruitment tickets, offers a 20% discount on 10 consecutive pulls and has the same base SSR rate of 0.6%[4].

Reaching 90 pulls does not, however, guarantee the particular adventurer featured on the banner. When an SSR appears, it has a 50% chance of being the featured adventurer. If it is not, the next SSR is guaranteed to be the featured one, and that record carries over to the next Special Recruitment banner. There is also a separate, one-time guarantee of a featured SSR within 120 pulls. Progress toward that 120-pull guarantee does not carry over[4].

The distinction is between getting an SSR and getting the featured SSR. The 90-pull ceiling answers the first question. The featured-character rules answer the second, with different carryover conditions for the usual guarantee and the one-time 120-pull provision. The notice also gives an overall featured SSR rate of 1.0709%, including guarantees[4].

Another condition is easy to overlook: featured SSR adventurers from Special Recruitment will not subsequently be added to Standard Recruitment[4]. Once their featured period ends, the standard banner is not a route to obtaining them. The notices do not establish whether a player can use a desired weapon without its associated adventurer. Recruitment results also award supply certificates: an SSR grants 100 special supply certificates, while an SR grants 20, for exchange against other goods in the shop[4].

Packs run from 1,400 won to 141,000 won, but the ticket price is missing

These prices are from the Korean App Store listing for Garena's app. Akahane Coin packs range from 60 coins for 1,400 won to 6,480 coins for 141,000 won. The intermediate packs contain 300 coins for 7,100 won, 980 for 22,000 won, 1,280 for 28,000 won and 1,980 for 44,000 won. The listing also includes a monthly plan at 7,100 won and 2 furnace products, named 펑펑 화로 and 쾅쾅 화로 in Korean, at 14,500 won and 28,000 won respectively. The app information carries a notice that it includes loot boxes[7].

These entries do not establish the cash cost of reaching the guarantee. The probability notice does not say how many coins a special recruitment ticket costs[4]. A coin bundle price and a guarantee measured in pulls are separate pieces of information; the ticket exchange price is needed to connect them.

For anyone interested in taking the series onto a phone, the free download provides a starting point. Spending on adventurers needs a separate decision. If the hunting appeals and a first recruitment purchase is tempting, check the ticket price in the in-game shop and multiply it by 90 before paying. Treat that figure as a check on the SSR guarantee, while keeping the featured-character conditions in view. The decision can wait until the missing price is visible.
