The Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 debuted on October 20, 2026. The ten-episode series brings CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER together again[1]. That same week, Cyberpunk 2077, the original game set in the same city, Night City, is 70% off on Steam. Its Korean Steam price has dropped from 66,000 KRW to 19,800 KRW, and the sale ends on October 26[2]. On the same day, the Ultimate Edition, base game, and Phantom Liberty expansion appeared consecutively in fourth through sixth place on Steam's Korean top sellers list[3]. The cost of stealing the key to immortality

According to the official introduction, you play V, a mercenary trying to make a name for yourself. The job of a lifetime is to steal an implant described as the key to immortality. Things do not go to plan. An experimental prototype chip becomes lodged in V's head, and the personality of legendary rocker Johnny Silverhand stored inside it slowly begins to consume V. From that point on, V's goal is to survive, whatever the cost[4].

Night City is a sprawling metropolis obsessed with power, money, and body modification[2][4]. It stretches from the high-rises of Corpo Plaza to the Badlands on its outskirts[4]. Your choices alter the story's branches and the fates of the people around you[4]. Characters such as braindance technician Judy Alvarez, nomad mercenary Panam Palmer, and Heywood native Jackie Welles share the weight of those decisions[4].

Guns or circuits?

Your combat style depends on the abilities you develop. You distribute points among skills and perks, combining upgraded weapons, hacking, and implants that enhance your body. You can fight head-on, take out enemies from a distance, or breach security to slip inside quietly[4]. Steam's user tags also include 'First-Person Shooter' and 'First-Person'[2].

The first few hours give you time to learn these options. Even on the same job, you decide whether to go through the front, hack security, or sneak around. Your build shapes how combat feels throughout the game, so focusing on one or two approaches is less bewildering than trying to do everything well from the start. Steam's feature list also includes adjustable difficulty, saving at any time, and playing without quick-time events[2].

Between 19,800 KRW and 37,480 KRW

Cyberpunk 2077 is a one-time purchase. Phantom Liberty is its only separately sold paid expansion on Steam; the other bonus content and modding tools are free[2]. The expansion follows V into an espionage story in the walled district of Dogtown and adds a dedicated Relic skill tree[4]. Its regular Korean Steam price is 34,900 KRW, currently reduced by 40% to 20,940 KRW[5].

The Ultimate Edition bundle, which includes the base game and expansion, costs 37,480 KRW during the same sale. That is 3,260 KRW less than buying the two separately at their discounted prices[2]. If you intend to play the expansion, buying the bundle from the start makes more sense. If you are unsure whether the base game will suit you, you can start with just 19,800 KRW.

Platform support has also expanded over those five years. The Steam version supports Windows and macOS[2], while the official website lists a Nintendo Switch 2 version and a free PS5 Pro upgrade[4].

Check your PC and your age first

Most of the considerations lie outside the game itself. The Steam store page lists a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or Radeon RX 580 8GB and 12GB of RAM as the minimum requirements. The recommended specifications are a GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or Radeon RX 5700 XT and 16GB of RAM. Both require an SSD and 70GB of available storage[2]. If your PC only has a hard drive, check your storage before considering how low the sale price is.

Korea's GRAC rating is 18+. The Steam page lists sexual content, violence, language, and drugs among its content descriptors[2]. There is no mode for playing with friends, either. Steam's feature list specifies single-player only[2]. If you want a game to log into with friends every evening, this will not fill that role.

User reviews have accumulated over time. As of October 20, about 87% of the 988,940 Steam user reviews recommended the game, giving it an overall rating of 'Very Positive'[6]. On the same day, it ranked 37th among Steam's most-played games[3]. Five years after launch, this single-player game is still on that chart this week.

Should you watch Edgerunners 2 first?

Edgerunners 2 is a standalone ten-episode story rather than a continuation of the game's story. Its protagonists are Weak, a legend who has lost his chrome, and D, a nomad seeking revenge[1]. You can watch it without knowing the game, and you can start the game without watching the anime. Whichever you choose first, the same deadline applies: the Steam sale price lasts through October 26.
