On October 11, Royal Match ranks No. 2 in US App Store game revenue, No. 6 in Korea and No. 7 in Japan. It also ranks No. 46 by revenue in Taiwan, while its positions on the free charts are No. 15 in Korea and No. 13 in Japan[1]. The App Store lists its release date as February 25, 2021. More than five years after launch, it still holds high positions on the revenue charts in all three countries[2]. Google Play downloads have passed 100 million[3]. This article is based on information available as of October 11, 2026, checked against the App Store and Google Play listings and developer Dream Games' official website.
Match three, then restore the castle
Royal Match is a match-3 puzzle game in which matching three or more identical pieces clears them from the board. The pieces depict objects that would fit inside a castle, such as crowns, books, shields and leaves. You clear levels by breaking the obstacles on each board[2][4]. Matching pieces creates special pieces such as Propellers, Light Balls, Rockets and TNT. Combining special pieces, such as a Propeller with a Light Ball or a Rocket with TNT, can clear several difficult obstacles at once[4].
As you clear levels, King Robert's summer castle is gradually restored, opening up new rooms, royal areas and gardens in turn[2][4]. At the king's side are Winston the butler and Duke the dog. Winston keeps everything tidy and tries to keep the king out of trouble. Duke is always with him. In the game's setting, the castle already has an ice rink, a miniature golf course, an aquarium and even an amusement park[4]. The special pieces are also presented as inventions King Robert made in his workshop[4]. The developer describes the art style as a blend of modern technology and retro design, using rounded forms without sharp edges[4]. Dream Games is a mobile game company with offices in Istanbul and London[5]. Royal Kingdom, another puzzle game from the same company, also ranks No. 32 in Korean App Store game revenue on the same day[1][2].
Another set of levels every 2 weeks
The game keeps players occupied with a large number of levels. The developer says there are thousands of them[4]. The App Store update notes state that new levels arrive every 2 weeks. The September 28 update added 100 new levels and the Hologram obstacle, which must be broken to reveal what lies underneath. It also opened the new Lagoon area in the castle and introduced an event collecting treats with Duke, along with weekly missions[2].
Featured purchases range from $0.99 to $19.99
The game is free to download, with purchases made inside the app. The US App Store page lists 10 featured purchases, ranging from Tiny Concept Offer at $0.99 to Queen's Treasure at $19.99. The remaining entries are Mini Coin Package at $1.99, Mini Offer at $2.99, Mini Concept Offer at $2.99, Duke's Treasure at $5.99, Royal Favor at $6.99, Normal Concept Offer at $6.99, Prince's Treasure at $9.99 and Royal Pass at $9.99[2]. The names alone do not tell you what is included or in what quantities. You need to open the in-game shop to check the contents.
It does not appear to be a game built around watching ads as you play. The Google Play listing shows an "In-app purchases" label but no "Contains ads" label[3].
Tracking disclosures and player chat
The App Store privacy section lists purchases and identifiers as data that may be used to track users across other companies' apps and websites[2]. This information is supplied by the developer and has not been verified by Apple[2]. The app has a 13+ age rating and includes chat that lets users exchange messages[2]. Keep both points in mind before handing your phone to a child.
The seller's name differs between stores. The App Store lists Dream Games Dijital Teknolojiler A.S., while Google Play lists Dream Games, Ltd.[2][3]. The game supports 11 languages including English. On iPhone, it requires iOS 15.0 or later and 334.4MB of storage[2].
Try a few minutes a day before spending
If you want to fit a few minutes of puzzles into your day, it is worth downloading for a try. With new levels arriving every 2 weeks, you will not quickly run out. If you find it difficult to set your own spending limit, however, play without purchases for the first few days and see how quickly the levels become difficult. If a level has you stuck and you start reaching for Queen's Treasure at $19.99, that is a good time to take a break.
