About

Sector Unknown is a deep, isometric CRPG developed by a single person, blending classic fallout-style mechanics with a gritty space opera setting. After crash-landing on the desolate world of Maku, you must transform an abandoned mining facility into a thriving stronghold, recruit a motley crew of companions, and navigate a web of planetary politics to challenge a tyrannical corporation.

Story

You begin as a prisoner aboard a Star Frontier transport ship, escaping via pod to the barren, rust-colored surface of Maku. To survive the shadowy "Null Sector," you must unite the inhabitants of six diverse planets—from the frozen wastes of Eremtera to the volcanic hellscape of Helfyr. Your choices will determine whether you liberate the sector through diplomacy or conquer it with an iron fist, all while tracking your rebellion's progress via a dynamic War Score.

Gameplay

Experience a blend of turn-based tactical combat and strategic base management. Engage in grid-based skirmishes using a mix of melee and ranged weaponry, or bypass conflict entirely using deep dialogue trees and skill checks that utilize your entire party's stats. Between missions, manage your stronghold, craft gear from over 50 materials, research new technologies, and hunt bounties to fund your growing resistance.

Key Features

  • 1Deep Base Building: Turn a crash site on Maku into a fully operational headquarters.
  • 2Tactical Turn-Based Combat: Grid-based battles requiring cover, positioning, and strategy.
  • 3Party-Based Skill Checks: Use your companion's highest stats for hacking, persuasion, and lockpicking.
  • 4Planetary Exploration: Travel to 6 unique worlds including ice, volcanic, and water biomes.
  • 5Faction Dynamics: Ally with or dominate local groups to influence the 'War Score'.
  • 6Comprehensive Crafting: Scavenge and utilize over 50 distinct materials.
  • 7Character Origins: Select backgrounds and traits that unlock unique dialogue and perks.
